315/80R22.5 is not an efficient tyre size and will disappear
315/80R22.5 remains very efficient for regional usage. The proof is that Michelin is launching a new 315/80R22.5 X® Multi™ Energy™

The benefits to switch to 315/70 R 22.5 are much higher due to the savings on fuel and cost per kilometer.
Trucks equipped with 315/70 R 22.5 generate more damages

Loading docks are made for trucks in 315/80R22.5
More and more, docks are updated and adapted to 315/70 R 22.5 tyres. The trucks using 60 Series don’t seem to present any kind of issues either.

Load capacity is the same on the drive axle
The load capacity is exactly the same in dual mounting 150L, only the load index in single mount is different on drive tyres.
Tyres in 315/70R22.5 and 385/55R22.5 are more expensive than 315/80R22.5 and 385/65R22.5
On the tyre replacement market, there are no price differences between Michelin 315/70R22.5 and 315/80R22.5. Michelin price’s recommendations to the dealer are the same for both sizes.
Also, when purchasing a new truck , there is usually no price gap between tyre sizes specifications. It can still remain a gap depending on the OEM’s though.
